OnePlus Buds Z2 wireless earbuds with mammoth battery, IP55 rating announced

OnePlus Buds Z2 white color

The 9RT is not the only device that OnePlus launched at its event today. In addition, the firm announced the new Buds Z2 wireless earbuds, which serve as an upgrade to to the Buds Z. Its design is slightly different (let's say it is more unique), and it has a better battery life.

It sounds better and it is bass-rich too - thanks to its improved 11mm dynamic driver. The device has Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that can filter up to 40db noise. This is made possible by its three powerful DNN microphones, which are designed in such a way that they can reduce wind-noise also.

It uses Bluetooth 5.2 to pair with supported devices, and it is enhanced with Dolby Atmos for superior quality sound. Unfortunately, the Dolby Atmos only works with OnePlus 7/7 Pro and later. The "Fast Pair" feature that the Buds Z2 brings is also reserved for OnePlus 6 and later and won't work with other smartphone brands.

Furthermore, the new OnePlus wireless TWS earbuds is sweat and water resistant certified with IP55, while its special case can also fairly resist water - thanks to its IPX4 rating. The pair have touch controls and built-in voice assistant.

Perhaps, the only area where the OnePlus Buds Z2 excel excellently compared to its predecessor is in battery life. According to the firm, it can deliver up to 38 hours with the case with ANC off, and 27 hours with the case with ANC off. Without the case, it will last 5 hours with ANC on and 7 hours with ANC off when fully charged.

Speaking of charging, its built-in 40mAh battery can be quickly filled up to listen to music for 2 hours with five minutes charge (with ANC off). The charging case housed a 520mAh battery to quickly juice up the buds for long hours listening.

The Buds Z2 comes in White and Black color options and will be available in China from October 19th for CN¥499 (US$77). CN¥ 100 discount applies to first sale, although there is no details about global availability.
