Sony's latest Xperia Pro-I will cost you a whooping $1800

Sony Xperia PRO-I

Sony has announced a new camera-centric smartphone called Xperia PRO-I, which will be hitting shelves in the European market later this year. The device is the latest in the short line of Sony's product that laid great emphasis on imaging - this is what the PRO-I (Professional Imaging) stands for.

First, it is the world's first smartphone to feature a 1-type Exmor RS Image sensor, which has a large 2.4µm pixel size that performs great in low-light condition. The PRO-I is also touted to be world's first capable to record 4K 120fps slow-mo video. It has three cameras at the rear treated with ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating, and a 3D iTOF sensor that calculate the distance between the subject and the camera.

The main camera that has a 1-type Exmor RS sensor used ZEISS Tessar optics to deliver great contrast and sharpness while minimizing distortion. The two other cameras both have 12-megapixel lenses - the first an ultra-wide (124°) and the second a telephoto. For video recording, there is Optical SteadyShot for Eye AF and object tracking.

Other specs include a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display, Snapdragon 888 5nm chipset, 3.5mm audio jack, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and 4,500mAh battery.
