Vivo Y54s 5G

The latest offering by Vivo is Y54s 5G, which is a 5G-capable smartphone that is powered by the Dimensity 700 7nm chipset. The device today was unveiled in China with the price sets at CN¥1699 (US$265), and it is expected to go on sale in the following days.

The Y54s 5G runs OriginOS 1.0 that is based on Android 11 out-of-the-box. It has dual SIM slot with dual standby functionality, and a microSD slot to expand the device storage. Speaking of the storage, there is a 128GB (UFS 2.1) storage onboard alongside with a 6GB RAM.

The virtual RAM feature under settings let users add an additional 2GB RAM, so the RAM can be pushed to 8GB in total. At the front is a 6.51-inch LCD screen with HD+ resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. The display only refreshes at 60Hz, and there is no screen protection such as Gorilla Glass on site.

Sitting at the back of the Y54s 5G are 13MP (f/2.2) PDAF camera and 2MP (f/2.4) depth camera for photography, while an 8MP selfie camera can also be found at the front inside the waterdrop notch above the display. Video recording is strictly restricted to Full HD (1080p @30fps) using the cameras.

Biometric security is handled by a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, although there is a 2D face unlock option under security settings to unlock the phone as well. Other connectivity that are available on the smartphone apart from 5G are WiFi 802.11ac dual band, Bluetooth 5, GPS/GLONASS/Galileo, 3.5mm headphones jack, and USB-C port.

The Y54s 5G weigh 188.4 grams, mainly because it is made of plastic (back and frame), and because it packed a huge 5000mAh battery. The battery can be fast-charge using the 18W charger that is provided in the retail box. You'll be able to pick one in Blue or Black colors when sales begin.
