Moto Edge X30 official: Special Edition has under-display selfie camera

Motorola Moto Edge X30

The phone we have been waiting for has finally arrived. As promised, Motorola held an event today that sees to the launching of its latest flagship smartphone, the Moto Edge X30. The device is the first to be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor (and probably will be the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 device to be available in the market).

The Moto Edge X30 boots Android 12 out-of-the-box that comes with various software features such as "Ready for PC", which will let users pair it instantly with a PC to share files, use downloaded Android apps on their desktop display, and to connect their PC to the phone (5G) data network.

Specwise, it features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ OLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate. The display supports 10-bit color, HDR10+, DCI-P3 color space, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Gorilla Glass 5 also protected the rear where the triple cameras are located - the main camera has a 50MP (OmniVision OV50A) sensor with OIS, the secondary camera has a 50MP (ISOCELL S5KGM1) ultra-wide angle sensor, while the third is a 2MP depth camera.

At the front inside the punch-hole centered above the display is a 60MP selfie snapper that uses the OmniVision OV60A40 sensor. It is worth noting that the firm also announced a special edition of the Moto Edge X30 that has an under-display selfie camera. The special edition does not have any hole above the display for the selfie camera but instead has the camera embedded under the display.

Under-display front camera is the only feature that differentiate the vanilla Moto Edge X30 from the Moto Edge X30 Special Edition, as both are identical in all other areas.

Being an high-end smartphone, Motorola used LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage for the device. It have dual stereo speakers, dual SIM slot, and side-mounted fingerprint sensor, but lacked 3.5mm audio jack. Moreover, it supports Dolby Atmos and it is IP52 splash resistance certified.
