The new Vivo Y55s 5G has the largest battery yet on any Vivo smartphones

Vivo Y55s 5G

The latest offering by Vivo is Y55s 5G, which is a 5G-capable smartphone that is powered by the Dimensity 700 7nm chipset. The device was unveiled in China today with the price sets at CN¥1699 (US$265), and it is expected to go on sale in the following days.

The Y55s 5G runs OriginOS 1.0 that is based on Android 11 out-of-the-box. It has dual SIM slot with dual standby functionality but lacks microSD card. Speaking of the storage, there is a 128GB storage onboard alongside with an 8GB RAM.

The virtual RAM feature under settings let users add an additional 2GB RAM, so the RAM can be pushed to 10GB in total. At the front is a 6.58-inch LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. The display only refreshes at 60Hz, and there is no screen protection such as Gorilla Glass on site.

Sitting at the back of the Y55s 5G are 50MP main and 2MP macro cameras for photography, while an 8MP selfie camera can also be found at the front inside the dewdrop notch above the display. Video recording is strictly restricted to Full HD (1080p @30fps) using the cameras.

Biometric security is handled by a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, although there is a 2D face unlock option under security settings to unlock the phone as well. Other connectivity that are available on the smartphone apart from 5G are WiFi 802.11ac dual band, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/GLONASS/Galileo/BDS/QZSS, 3.5mm headphones jack, and USB-C port.

The Y55s 5G weigh 199.8 grams, mainly because it is made of plastic (back and frame), and also because it packed a gigantic 6000mAh battery. The battery can be fast-charge using the 18W charger that is provided in the retail box. You'll be able to pick one in Blue, Pink, or Black colors when sales begin.
