OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G debuts with Dimensity 900 5G chipset, 65W charging

The latest offering by OnePlus is Nord CE 2 5G, which is a 5G-capable smartphone that is powered by an octa-core Dimensity 900 6nm chipset. The device was unveiled in India Thursday and it is expected to go on sale on February 22nd on OnePlus stores, Amazon, and other retail outlets.

The Nord CE 2 5G runs Oxygen OS 11.3 that is based on Android 11 out-of-the-box. It has dedicated dual SIM slot and a microSD card slot to expand its internal storage. Speaking of the storage, there is a 128GB storage onboard that is paired with up to 8GB of RAM.

The virtual RAM feature under the phone settings let users add additional RAM to expand the physical RAM. At the front is a 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display refreshes at 90Hz and the screen-to-body ratio is 84.9%.

Sitting at the back of the smartphone are 64MP (f/1.8) main, 8MP (f/2.2) 119° ultra-wide, and 2MP (f/2.4) depth cameras for photography, while a 16MP (f/2.4) (Sony IMX471) selfie camera can be found at the front inside the punch-hole at the top-left corner of the display. Video recording is restricted to 4K using the cameras.

Biometric security is handled by an in-display fingerprint sensor, although there is a 2D face unlock option under the security settings to unlock the phone as well. Other connectivity that are available on the smartphone apart from 5G are WiFi 802.11ax (dual band), Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/NavIC, 3.5mm headphones jack, NFC, and USB-C port.

The device measures 160.6x73.2x7.8mm and weigh 173 grams, mainly because it has a glass back and a plastic frame, and because it packed a 4,500mAh battery behind. The battery can be fast-charge using the 65W charger that is provided in the retail box. You'll be able to pick one in Bahama Blue or Gray Mirror color.
