India version of Redmi 10 launches with Snapdragon 680 SoC, 6000mAh battery

Redmi 10 India version

Xiaomi today brought the Redmi 10 to India after introducing the smartphone in other regions. Unlike the global version of Redmi 10 that came with MediaTek chipset, the India version that was released today is powered by a Snapdragon 680 6nm octa-core chipset, which is more powerful and more efficient.

Also, the smartphone sourced its power from a gigantic 6000mAh battery, which should provide up to three days battery life in a single charge. The battery reminds us of Redmi 9t that has the same capacity. 18W fast charging is supported out-of-the-box, although Xiaomi is only including 10W charger in the box.

In photography, the Redmi 10 have 50MP (f/1.8) main and 2MP (f/2.4) depth dual-rear cameras, accompanied by a LED flash. The rectangular island that the cameras sit on also accommodates a fingerprint sensor for security. Since the fingerprint sensor is mounted to the back, only the volume and the power buttons are located at the side.

The smartphone display is larger than the competition at 6.7-inch, although its HD+ resolution is poor compared to today's standard. Protecting the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 3. In case you are thinking, the refresh rate is pegged at 60Hz. If you ask us, the Redmi 10 has an hardware that supports decent gaming, but the display is such a let down.

Anyway, 4GB and 6GB are the RAM options, coupled with 64GB and 128GB storage respectively. The RAM is LPDDR4x and the storage is UFS 2.2. These are expandable of course, up to 1TB (via microSD) for the storage, and up to 2GB (via Virtual Memory Extension) for the RAM.

The Redmi 10 boots MIUI 13 based on Android 11. It has a 3.5mm audio jack that function as an antenna for the built-in FM radio, but it does not have an IR sensor. Connectivity available are Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac dual band, 3G, GPS, and USB Type-C.

The smartphone has a plastic frame and a textured plastic back that improves its grip and help eliminate smudges when held in hand. Lest we forget, the front camera is 5MP.
