HTC Desire 22 Pro brings VIVERSE to the Android smartphone market

HTC on Tuesday announced its latest mid-entry smartphone called Desire 22 Pro. It has been a while since we have seen the Taiwanese technology firm released an Android phone, although they are still making news in the other parts of the market, such as in the VRand AR industry.

The device is touts to be the first smartphone with built in VIVERSE platform. With the VIVERSE, users can trade digital assets, use VIVE Wallet to manage their personal virtual assets, create various shared virtual spaces, and purchase NFTs on VIVE Market.

Specwise, it has a 6.6-inch FHD+ screen with 120Hz refresh rate, and is powered by a Snapdragon 695 6nm 5G chipset. The built-in RAM is 8GB, and this paired with 128GB storage that can be expanded via microSD card. Moreover, the phone is water and dust resistant certified with IP67 rating.

Triple cameras sit at the back for taking photos. The main, which is the primary camera, has a 64MP sensor; this is closely followed by 13MP ultra-wide and 5MP depth cameras. The phone runs Android 12 OS out-of-the-box.

It will first hit the Taiwanese market on July 1st with the price sets at NT$11,990 (US$ 404), and later in the United Kingdom, where it will be sold for £399 (US$489) from August 1st. Two color options will be available, Midnight Black and Gold.
